17 die as blast destroys car park at hospital

AN explosion in a multi-storey car park at a hospital in central China today killed at least 17 people and injured seven.

The blast occurred in an underground garage at a hospital for employees of the Xuangang Coal and Electricity Company in Shanxi province's Yuanping county.

An official with the hospital, said 17 bodies had been discovered and rescuers were continuing to dig through the debris for victims.
