World Cup: South Korean team pelted with sweets

ENGLAND may have skulked back into the country after their early World Cup exit but there was no such luck for South Korea, whose players were pelted by sweets when they arrived home.

The Taegeuk Warriors finished bottom of Group H, having lost to Algeria and Belgium after drawing their opening match with Russia.

It is a far cry from their semi-final appearance 12 years ago and the poor performance saw one irate fan pelt the players with sweets when they arrived back at Incheon International Airport.

The phrase ‘eat taffy’ is seen as an insult in South Korea.
