Works yard death ‘not suspicious’

THE discovery of a dead body in a Slateford works yard is not being treated as suspicious by police.

Officers were called to Builders Supply in Inglis Green Road early yesterday after staff found the male corpse.

It appears the dead man fell into the yard from the aqueduct carrying the Union Canal.

The forensic team spent around five hours at the scene before reopening the yard and the cycle track alongside the canal above.

Builders Supply managing director Ron Reilly said: “Whatever took place happened over the weekend.

“When our manager opened up and did his usual checks in the morning, he found the body and dialled 999.”

Police said while they were not treating it as suspicious, they were keen for any information that could assist them in their enquiries.
