Worker burnt in explosion

A WORKER yesterday suffered minor burns to his hands after a small explosion at Heriot-Watt University.

Police and 14 firefighters were called to the plant room at the Research Park in Riccarton at 1:50pm after a fire broke out.

A police spokesman said: "Officers assisted Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue with a cordon while they carried out their investigations.

"A 61-year-old man suffered minor, non life-threatening injuries to his hands."
