Work takes off for new hotels near airport

WORK is under way on plans for two new hotels close to Edinburgh Airport.

A 119-bedroom Premier Inn at Newbridge's Axis Park is expected to be completed by the end of the year. And work is also expected to get under way later this year on a 159-bedroom Park Inn on the same site.

Investment of more than 18 million is believed to be going into the development of the two new hotels.

The progress on the hotel elements comes after Scotland Gas Networks last month took occupation of its 30,000sq ft building on the park.

Gavin Anderson, a partner at Montagu Evans, joint letting agents on the park, said: "Operators have spotted the benefit of the strategic location."
