Work on new bridges starts

TWO bridges in Broxburn are being replaced at a cost of £700,000.

The Wilsonville and Caw Burn bridges are both being demolished and replaced as part of the second phase of flood prevention works. Work began on Monday and is due to last until November, with two 16-week road closures planned.

A West Lothian Council spokesman said: "The work will involve replacing both stone arch bridges with reinforced concrete flat-deck structures."
