Woolfson leaves £280,000

SCOTTISH musician and songwriter Eric Woolfson who co-founded the 1970s band The Alan Parsons Project left £281,586 in his will.

Glasgow-born Woolfson who died aged 64 from kidney cancer last December also wrote songs for Marianne Faithfull, Chris Farlowe and Frank Ifield.

He worked as a producer for artists including The Tremeloes, and The Equals before forming The Alan Parsons Project with Alan Parsons in 1975. The pair released ten albums, selling 45 million copies until splitting in 1990 and had hits including Eye in the Sky.

Multi-talented Woolfson was lead singer on many tracks as well as songwriter and lyricist, producer and pianist - but he insisted the band should not bear his name.

The father of two who went on to work in musical theatre left his estate to his wife, Hazel. Woolfson lived in Mill Hill, north London.
