The family moved to Australia in the late 1960s, returning to England and settling in Kent when Claire was 11. Her brother Peter recalled: "Claire was a girl who was full of life, with an amazing zest for everything she did."
Following her father into the NHS, Claire was still living at home when she first met Webster at a party and fell in love, later telling her family she "knew straight away" she would marry him.

Hide AdBetty Morris, Claire's adoptive mother, said she felt Webster was "odd" and did not trust him. She told police her usually independent and strong-willed daughter changed under his influence and gradually grew distant from her family.
Claire began training as a nurse in London but followed Webster to Scotland where he, too, was starting a career in the NHS. The couple were working for NHS Grampian when they married at King's College Chapel, Aberdeen, on 3 September, 1993.
Eight months later, aged 32, Claire was dead - killed in the early hours of 28 May, 1994, when the Daihatsu Sportrak 4x4 being driven by her husband apparently careered off a road in Aberdeenshire, collided with a tree and burst into flames. Yesterday, Webster was convicted of callously plotting her murder.
