Lothian and Borders Police have launched an investigation into what led to her death and will speak to neighbours, local residents and family members.

They appealed for information which could help with their inquiries.

Detective inspector Matt Richards said: "At this time, the cause of Marie Reid's death remains unascertained and as a matter of procedure it is important that we now speak with those who knew her to determine any lines of enquiry that may need to be taken.

"We know that Marie relied on carers and the wider community to run errands for her as she was infirm, and we would like to speak to anyone who may have had contact with her in this manner or even saw her at her back door in the days before her death."
