Woman was over limit on chip shop run

A WOMAN got back behind the wheel after "staggering" from her car to the local chip shop, a court heard yesterday.

Kerry Bonsell drove home over the limit clutching her bag of chips. But another motorist who saw her was so concerned that he called the police.

When police arrived at the 40-year-old's home minutes later she admitted that she'd been driving while over the limit.

Bonsell pleaded guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to driving while almost three times over the legal limit.

Bonsell was fined 335 and banned from driving for 20 months. Sheriff Grahame Fleming said he would allow her to take a drink driver rehabilitation course to reduce her disqualification period by five months.
