Woman seriously sexually assaulted in Govan area of Glasgow

A WOMAN was seriously sexually assaulted in a bin shed early this morning.

• The attack took place in the Govan area of Glasgow early this morning

• The attacker is described as white, early to mid 30s, with a local accent

The attack took place between midnight and 12.30am in Riverview Gardens in the Govan area of Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police said the 26-year-old woman first met her attacker in or around the city’s York Street.

After making their way over the Clyde Arc bridge, known locally as the Squinty Bridge, they headed into a bin shed where he attacked her. Afterwards, the man made off along Paisley Road West.

He is described as white, early to mid 30s, with a local accent. He is around 5 ft 9, well built, with short blonde hair and wearing a black, puffa style jacket .

Detective Inspector David Stewart said: “I know that one or two people walked past the bin shed while the woman was being attacked. I’d like to speak to them to find out if they have any information which could help us catch the man responsible.”
