Woman sent to prison for 999 threats

A WOMAN who repeatedly dialled 999 to threaten police call centre operators has been jailed for eight months.

Leanne McConnachie, 28, was appearing for sentence yesterday after earlier admitting the indictment charge.

Livingston Sheriff Court was told that the calls she made between February 3 and March 12 this year "caused needless anxiety" to Lothian and Borders Police telephone operators at the force's Bilston Communications Centre.

McConnachie, of Livingston, also admitted breaching probation, committing an offence while on bail, possessing cannabis and breaching the peace at Almondvale Centre in Livingston on May 25 by arming herself with a knife and threatening to stab a security guard.

She was already on two years' probation for a 2009 offence in which she called the police call centre and falsely claimed she needed to be arrested or she'd kill someone.
