Woman saved from blaze

A 55-YEAR-OLD woman was rescued by a police officer after a fire broke out at her Lothians home.

The officer came to the aid of the woman, who was uninjured, after a small blaze at her home on Laburnum Road in Whitburn at around 5.50pm yesterday, the fire service said.

The call-out was one of several separate fires in the Lothians over the weekend.

A 68-year-old male neighbour was given oxygen after he tried to help when a chip pan caught fire on Craigentinny Road at 12.15am today.

A 40-year-old woman and two men, aged 16 and 30, were treated at the scene with oxygen.

Another fire broke out yesterday morning at 10.30am at Moffat Walk in Tranent.

A woman, thought to be around 25, was taken to the ERI after suffering burns to her hands.
