Woman rescued from fire by passerby

TWO women were rushed to hospital last night, including a 42-year-old who rescued the other casualty from her burning home.

The unidentified heroine, who spotted smoke coming from the property on Woodmuir Road, Whitburn, was taken to St John's Hospital with the 53-year-old homeowner. Both suffered from smoke inhalation.

When the passerby saw smoke coming from the house she knocked on the door. Receiving no response, she walked around the side of the house and saw a chip-pan fire in the kitchen. She extinguished the blaze using a wet cloth.
