Woman raped in broad daylight

A YOUNG woman was raped in broad daylight after she was forced down an embankment in North Ayrshire.

The 22-year-old was walking along a pathway, near to McGregor Avenue and Glencairn Street, in Stevenston when she was grabbed by a man, about 12.20pm on Tuesday.

The attacker ran off after the assault and the victim was able to make her way home and alert police.

The culprit is described as aged between 20 and 30, 5ft 9 tall, of slim with stubble on his chin.

He was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Drummond, at Saltcoats CID, is appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the attacker hanging around the aea at the time of the incident.
