Woman left with serious head injuries after attack

A WOMAN suffered a serious head injury after being knocked to the ground just moments after getting off a bus with friends.

The 38-year-old victim was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary following the assault at around 11:30pm on Sunday in Muirfield Gardens, Loanhead.

The woman and two friends had just got off a bus near to Loanhead Miners Club and had walked into Muirfield Gardens.

A man approached the victim and knocked her to the ground, causing her to hit her head.

The suspect was with another man and woman, and all three entered a dark-coloured people carrier private hire car in the Loan, which then left the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed this unprovoked assault to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, 20 to 25 years old, 5ft 7in tall with fair or mousey brown short hair. He was wearing a baggy white short sleeve T-shirt, three-quarter length black trousers and white trainers.
