Woman left tied up during house robbery

A WOMAN was tied up and assaulted in her home during a robbery in Lanarkshire.

The 39-year-old was bound after two men entered the property in a rural location in Stonehouse. The men made off with personal papers and an undisclosed sum of money after the robbery at about 1:30pm on Monday.

The woman managed to contact a friend, who called the police.

She was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where she was treated for a head injury before being discharged. Detective Constable Jim Conway, from Strathclyde Police's Hamilton CID, said yesterday: "This was a terrifying experience for this woman and although not seriously injured, she is extremely distressed."
