Woman killed in early morning car crash

The 23-year-old woman and 24-year-old man were walking in Arbroath Road shortly after 7am when they were struck by a blue Ford Mondeo.

Emergency services were called but the woman, who was from Dundee, was declared dead at the scene.

The man, who is from Forfar, was taken to Dundee's Ninewells Hospital for treatment after suffering serious leg injuries.

Crash investigators from Tayside Police closed the road while they carried out inquiries.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone who saw the blue Ford Mondeo being driven in the city early this morning to contact them.
