Woman hit by bus on Princes St

A WOMAN has been treated in hospital after she was struck by a bus on Princes Street.

Medics and police officers rushed to the scene of the collision, just outside the Vodafone shop, after receiving an emergency call at 12.40pm ­yesterday.

The woman, who medics said was in her late 20s, sustained eye and head injuries, and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

A female bus passenger was also taken to hospital after being hurt when the vehicle was forced to brake suddenly.

Police said temporary traffic control measures were put in place at the junction of Princes Street and South St Andrew Street while casualties were treated.
