Woman found near church dies

A YOUNG woman has died after being found partially clothed lying in snow outside a church.

The woman, who was in her 30s, was found by a member of the public outside St John's Church in Carluke, South Lanarkshire, at about 9:10am yesterday.

She was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Strathclyde Police said they were treating her death as "unexplained".

A spokesman for the Church of Scotland said that the usual Sunday morning service was cancelled as police had sealed off the church.
