Woman found dead in her home after violent attack

A WOMAN was found dead after suffering a violent attack in her home, police said yesterday.

The body of Lynne Small, 36, was discovered at the property in Addison Grove, Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire, on Wednesday.

Strathclyde Police were called after Miss Small’s sister was unable to gain access when she tried to visit her at about 8pm.

Officers forced entry to the property, which was locked.

Detective Chief Inspector John McDonald said: “It was clear at that stage that she had been the victim of an attack and a post-mortem examination revealed that she had been murdered.”

Mr McDonald said Ms Small lived alone and was unemployed.

He added: “Detectives are currently trying to trace Lynne’s last movements and I would appeal to anyone who has seen Lynne or been in contact with her between Monday 24 October and when her body was discovered to come forward as a matter of urgency as they may have information that is vital to this inquiry.”

Police are also carrying out a missing person investigation into the whereabouts of Miss Small’s 52-year-old neighbour Charles Walker, who was last seen on Main Street in Thornliebank around 7pm on Monday.

Mr McDonald said the two inquiries were not connected.
