Woman disturbed burglars as they ransacked her home

A WOMAN returned home to find a pair of burglars inside her property before discovering the thieves had made off with a large quantity of jewellery.

The incident happened around 6pm on Tuesday in Heatherfield Glade, Livingston when the homeowner arrived back and found her front door was blocked from the inside.

She heard footsteps from inside the home and was aware of two people leaving the house through the rear patio doors before making off over a fence into Adambrae Cemetery.

A police spokesman said: "The suspects did all they could to prevent themselves being caught in the act while in the property but they may have been seen by members of the public either before they entered the house, or when they fled through the cemetery.

"Anyone who saw anything suspicious or who can assist us in identifying those responsible is asked to contact police."
