Witness box tears from mother

A MOTHER broke down in tears as she denied harming her baby daughter who was allegedly killed by her former lover.

Nichola Haddock cried in the witness box amid emotional scenes at the trial of Craig Jamieson at the High Court in Glasgow.

Jamieson is accused of murdering his four-month old child, Abbie, at his then flat in Scotstoun, Glasgow, on 8 February, 2008.

The 32-year-old, of Knightswood, Glasgow, denies the charge and has incriminated former university student Miss Haddock.

Prosecutor Andrew Miller yesterday asked Miss Haddock: “Did you deliberately harm your daughter in any way?”

The 31 year-old replied: “No.”

Mr Miller went on: “Specifically on the night of 7 February or early on February 8 before leaving for university, did you assault Abbie or harm her in any way?”

Miss Haddock sobbed: “No.”

The jury earlier heard how Miss Haddock had initially backed Jamieson after his arrest – and even had another child with him.

Miss Haddock is due to return for a third day today to be cross-examined by Jamieson’s QC, Gordon Jackson.

The trial continues.
