Wind speeds ‘easing up’

PARTS of Scotland are gradually becoming less windy according to new research by Heriot-Watt University.

The study shows wind speeds in Scotland’s Central Belt have fallen by an average of five each decade since the 1970s.

Environmentalists say the study is evidence that windfarm developments will be less effective in producing energy.
