Wildlife enthusiast out to make world of difference

A WILDLIFE enthusiast from Portobello has been chosen from more than 1,100 applicants to win a placement with a charity of his choice.

Kenneth Picken, 38, was successful with the Vodafone Foundation's 2009 World of Difference UK Programme, and will spend two months with the National Trust for Scotland at the River Dee in Dumfriesshire.

He said: "I am looking forward to learning something new about bats, applying some of my experience and hopefully being able to work outside in Scotland in the sunshine."
