Wild idea to boost city's green spaces

A NEW drive has been launched to promote the Capital's top "wild places".

The new Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Edinburgh aims to improve the city's green spaces for people and wildlife.

It includes proposals for species conservation and work to improve habitats through better management.

A "map" of Edinburgh's top wild places has also been produced.

Jim Lowrie, the city's planning leader, said: "Edinburgh is leading the way in conserving local biodiversity and it is very important that we continue to maintain this high standard.

"When making planning decisions it is essential we have as much information as possible on the natural environment."
