Who's that girl? The Doctor is to marry his 'daughter'

SCOTTISH actor David Tennant has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Georgia Moffett.

Bathgate-born Tennant, 39, met his 26-year-old fiance on the set of Doctor Who when she made a guest appearance as his daughter in 2008.

Tennant, who played the tenth Doctor, has been dating Moffet for two and a half years.

According to reports, the couple plan to wed on New Year's Day in 2012. A friend is reported to have said: "They are besotted with each other and can't wait to tie the knot."

Tennant will become step- father to Moffett's eight-year-old son Tyler, who was born when she was 17.

Doctor Who trivia is rife in their relationship. Moffett is the daughter of Peter Davison, who played the fifth Doctor from 1981 to 1984, when Georgia was born.

Davison and Tennant appeared together in a Doctor Who special for Children in Need in 2007, entitled Time Crash.

Davison gave the couple his seal of approval shortly after they started dating.

He said: "It's great because David is a genuinely nice guy - and also a very fine Doctor."

Moffett portrayed the Doctor's daughter, Jenny, in a 2008 episode. Her mother, actress Sandra Dickinson, played a character called Maggie in the 1996 Doctor Who radio serial The Ghosts of N-Space.
