Who’ll be top of the Scots?

FIRST Minister Alex Salmond is up against tennis star Andy Murray, Texas guitarist Ally McErlaine and Doctor Who assistant Karen Gillan to be named Scot of the Year.

Also on the shortlist for the award, made by ScotsCare, the charity for Scots in London, are film director Lynne Ramsay and the late singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty.

People can vote online at www.scotscare.com. The charity said Ally McErlaine had taken an early lead in the voting, in recognition of his remarkable recovery from a life-threatening brain haemorrhage.
