PURSES, keys and shopping bags are often left behind by forgetful passengers travelling on capital buses.

But a cute cat in a cage?

The female moggy was found inside a beige cat carrier on a bus on Tuesday afternoon, but the Scottish SPCA said it was unclear if she was left behind accidentally or on purpose.

The cat - thought to be three to five-years-old - is being looked after by the Scottish SPCA in Hamilton.
