White Heath join line-up for Holyrood opening bash

SIX-piece Edinburgh band White Heath will appear in a showcase of Scotland's musical talent at the Scottish Parliament next month.

The band, signed to the Electric Honey label, have been described as performing "beautiful pop melodies that engage the heart as much as the head".

They will appear during an afternoon of free entertainment for the opening of the fourth session of the Scottish Parliament on July 1, with four other bands from across Scotland, and performances from youth choirs, orchestras, pipers and drummers.

The showcase will follow the ceremonial opening of parliament by the Queen and a procession down the Royal Mile featuring around 2000 people.

Paul Turnbull, from Feast Records at Jewel and Esk College, which helped choose the bands, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for these highly-rated young Scottish bands to make their mark at Holyrood."
