Wheelchair-bound disabled man robbed in his home

A disabled man in a wheelchair has been robbed in his home.

The incident happened at lunchtime yesterday in Easthouses Court, Dalkeith.

The 44-year-old, who has difficulties with his mobility, was sitting in his wheelchair , when a man walked in.

The raider started talking to him before stealing his wallet, which was on his lap.

A struggle ensued before the suspect wrestled the wallet away and ran off

Detectives are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, mid-forties with a slim build, dark hair and a goatee beard and moustache. He was wearing a black beanie hat, a black three quarter length jacket and blue jeans.

Detective Inspector Martin Black said: “The victim was not injured during this incident, but was left very distressed after a male entered his home uninvited and robbed him of his wallet.

“We are conducted local enquiries to see if residents in the area saw anything suspicious and are keen to hear from anyone with information that can help with this investigation, by calling 101”.
