West urged to freeze Saleh assets

A LEADING member of Yemen's opposition, Sheikh Hamid al-Ahmar, a tribal leader and wealthy businessman, has called on western countries to freeze the assets of the president, Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Mr Saleh is clinging to power despite months of protest against his 33-year rule.
