Yellow thunderstorm warnings issued for parts of Scotland today as hail and lightning strikes set to batter country

The Met Office has warned of thunderstorms coming from the West

The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for the west coast of Scotland from Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday.

The warning includes the south west coast of Scotland, covering Glasgow, Lanark and Ayr.

The public are urged to take care, as the Met Office have said: “Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.”

There are also warnings of potential power cuts in areas that are affected and people are urged to be careful if travelling as roads could be cut off due to flooding.
