Weather warning issued for large parts of Scotland

In recent days temperatures in the country have fallen to leave icy conditions in the mornings.

The Met Office has warned that more is to come throughout the country with a yellow warning in place for Central Tayside and Fife, Grampian, Highlands and Eilean Siar and Strathclyde.

The “be aware” weather warning is to run from Monday evening through to Tuesday morning with ice expected to form.

Icy patches are likely to develop on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths or where showers cause wash off on treated roads. Showers will be wintry on the high ground bringing an extra hazard and 2-5 cm of snow may accumulate, mainly above 300m.
