A spectacular video shows the breathtaking moment the lightning flashed across the whole sky as storms battered the country on Tuesday night.

This amazing video was taken by Gareth Fender in Haddington, East Lothian, yesterday evening.

The Met Office released yellow weather warnings for Scotland on Tuesday and Wednesday as flooding, thunderstorms and strong winds hit the Capital.

They have also warned that there is a chance that homes and buildings could have flood damage and have advised people not to travel in case of delays or road closures.

There is also a chance of power cuts, and a small chance of fast flowing or deep flood water.
