May bank holiday weather in Scotland: latest Met Office forecast after heatwave sweeps the country
The forecast for the rest of the week is a mixture of sunny and warm conditions but with a chance of some heavy rain.

Following Wednesday’s heatwave, Thursday (21 May) will see cloud thickening for a time with some showery rain expected.
However, it will soon be dry with bright and sunny spells developing. Highs of 19C are forecast on Thursday.

Hide AdHeavy rain in the north will sweep east on Friday (22 May). Cooler, showery weather is then set to follow, with gales in the northwest.
What will the weather be like this weekend?
This weekend will see a mixture of rain, sunshine and cloud in Scotland.
Edinburgh
Edinburgh will be mostly cloudy on Saturday (23 May) with a maximum daytime temperature of 12C.
We’ll see some sunshine during the morning, cloud in the afternoon and the chance of light showers throughout the evening.

Hide AdSunday (24 May) will see light showers during the morning, which will ease to sunny intervals in the afternoon, with a peak temperature of 16C.
Bank Holiday Monday (25 May) will see sunny spells throughout most of the day with highs of 18C.
GlasgowGlasgow will see rain throughout the day on Saturday, with showers turning heavier throughout the evening. The temperature will reach a peak of 12C.
Sunday will see heavy rain throughout the morning, with rain easing to lighter showers but continuing throughout the day, accompanied by highs of 14C.

Hide AdBank Holiday Monday will see sunny spells throughout the day and highs of 17C.
Long-term forecast
Looking further ahead until the 2 June, the Met Office explains that, “The beginning of this period is likely to see a return to more settled conditions, bringing plenty of fine and dry weather, with temperatures recovering to above average.”
However, the northwest of Scotland could still see some more unsettled conditions at times.
It is likely that there may be some outbreaks of rain moving southwards across the UK, accompanied by light winds.
