Waterfront cash is hailed

REGENERATION experts today welcomed plans by city chiefs to spend £84 million on a series of projects at Leith Docks in order to help restart the development of Edinburgh's waterfront.

The News revealed yesterday that Scottish Government Finance Secretary John Swinney has "provisionally approved" the city council's "tax incremental financing" proposal to borrow the money against future business rates income to fund a series of works.

Heather Pearson, head of social housing and regeneration at legal firm HBJ Gateley Wareing, said: "The use of innovative funding models such as TIF in the current financial climate is to be greatly welcomed."
