Water chiefs to splash out

WATER bosses are set to invest £10 million in five treatment works across West Lothian to improve the natural environment of the River Avon.

The investment includes improvements to the quality of the Barbauchlaw Burn, a tributary of the Avon, which itself flows into the Forth at Kinniel near Grangemouth.

Bill Elliot, Scottish Water's regional community manager for West Lothian, said: "A stronger, cleaner River Avon is good for everyone."
