The helicopter can be seen flying low over Rosehearty Harbour as coastguard teams assisted from the ground after three boys found themselves in difficulty on the rocks on Wednesday evening.

Two members of the Rosehearty Harbour and Inshore Fishermans Association (RHIFA), Andra Duthie and Bob Taylor, were nearby and spotted them struggling.

Knowing the tide was due to come in and the danger the boys faced, the pair promptly called the coastguard.

Once on the scene, volunteers from Fraserburgh and Peterhead Coastguard teams assisted two of the boys safely off the rocks where they were then treated by paramedics.

The third boy, who had been injured, was kept “warm and comfortable” until the arrival of the coastguard helicopter.

He was winched to safety and taken to hospital where he was treated for a leg injury and hypothermia.
