Warning over sat nav racers

MOTORISTS are being warned against a dangerous new fad which sees drivers race against their own sat nav systems.

New research shows that 15 per cent of Scottish drivers have played at "GPS racing" - speeding to a destination to beat the predicted arrival time on a car's navigation system.

Ben Tyte, head of car insurance at Sainsbury's Finance, said: "We are encouraging drivers to have the safety of passengers, road users and pedestrians at the forefront of their minds."
