Warning over lab changes

DOWNGRADING Edinburgh's police forensic laboratory will mean some crimes are not properly investigated, Edinburgh South MSP Mike Pringle claimed today.

A review of Scotland's forensic labs includes proposals to reduce the scope of work done in the Capital, with much of it transferred from Edinburgh to Gartcosh, near Glasgow.

Mr Pringle said: "I'm convinced that Lothian and Borders Police will not get the same service if these changes go through, and crime will rise.

"In Edinburgh, everything gets investigated. But if they start sending it through to Glasgow, they have not got the time, it's too busy."
