Warning on cycle thefts

POLICE have warned residents in the Stockbridge area to be on guard against cycle thieves following the theft of five bikes last month.

In most of the cases thieves overcame locks on the bikes before making off with them. Four of the cycles were stolen from on the street or from common stairwells.

The fifth was stolen from a secure cycle area where police said CCTV footage had given them "a positive line of enquiry".
