Warning on bogus callers

EAST Lothian residents are being urged to check the identity of callers to their homes.

Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for information after a female bogus caller struck at two homes in East Lothian and one in Edinburgh, posing as three different officials including a council worker.

Chair of the East Lothian community safety partnership, councillor Stuart Currie, said: "We're very disturbed to hear of these incidents. All council staff have an official identification card with their name, a photograph and council logo, and are happy to show this to a householder."
