Warning as second eaterie shuts

FOOD businesses in West Lothian are being warned to maintain good hygiene standards after a second premises was closed in as many weeks.

West Lothian Council's environmental health officers had to take emergency action to close the May Garden in West Calder last Wednesday.

The takeaway was found to be so dirty that there was a real risk to food safety and public health.

Officers also discovered that the ventilation within the kitchen had not been working, contributing to a large build-up of grease and dirt.

It followed the closure of China House in Livingston for four days on March 3.
