Wanted man arrested in Pakistan

ONE of Britain's most wanted men has been arrested in Bangladesh in connection with a double murder in 2003, police said yesterday.

Ayub Khan, 27, of Pakistani origin, was held in Dhaka central jail after he was picked up by police from near the Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday.

"He will be extradited to Britain through proper channels in the shortest possible time," police inspector Salah Uddin said.

Khan, originally from Chigwell in Essex, arrived in Bangladesh last week to visit a friend in northeastern Sylhet district, home to thousands of Bengali-speaking Muslims living in Britain.

Police said Khan was wanted by Scotland Yard on charges of having killed Amarjit Singh, 52, and his nephew Rajinder Singh, 35, over a parking row in Forest Gate, east London, in 2003.
