Voucher website rapped over Scottish hotel package offer

Voucher website Living- Social has received a rap on the knuckles from the Advertising Standards Authority over claims relating to a deal for a stay in a Scottish hotel.

The website was offering a two-night package at the Barcelo Troon hotel for £139, which it said was was “regularly” £380.

However, the ASA received a complaint that customers were unable to find how they could pay the higher price by booking directly with the hotel.

The watchdog told Living- Social to ensure the claimed value of its offers reflected the total at which the components would be generally available.

“LivingSocial did not believe the ad was misleading, as the price related solely to their offer, which incorporated significant additional elements not generally available to consumers booking directly with the hotel,” ruled the watchdog.
