Vote on how to boost town

PEOPLE in Armadale have voted for a music festival, a 5km charity run and more colour in the town centre as the best ideas to improve the town.

A total of 664 people voted for their favourite three of 20 ideas developed by supporters of the 'Do More, Drink less' alcohol reduction campaign, which was launched in June.

Among the top five ideas were environmental clean-ups, alcohol-free family Sundays and a street market.

West Lothian Council's executive councillor for social policy, Isabel Hutton, said: "We all know Scotland has a problem with alcohol and we see the effect of that too often in communities throughout the country.

"This campaign is about raising awareness about alcohol use and misuse and reminding people we can choose positive options that will improve lives."
