Vodka theft proves costly

A MAN paid a heavy price for stealing a bottle of vodka the day after he got out of jail.

Steven Mitchell was sent back to prison to serve the 70-day balance of his original sentence. He had a further 60 days added. Mitchell, 27, of Bathgate, West Lothian, pleaded guilty to stealing alcohol from Aldi in Bathgate on April 18.

Prosecutor John Barclay told Livingston Sheriff Court: "He was released on Friday and this offence, being theft of alcohol, was on Saturday."
