Vision loss fear for street attack victim

A MAN is at risk of losing the sight in an eye after being punched in the face during an unprovoked attack as he walked with his wife.

The 26-year-old victim was walking in Bonnyrigg's Dundas Street, near to the junction with High Street and Lothian Street, when he became involved in an argument with the suspect at around 10.45pm on Sunday.

After punching him in the face, the suspect kicked the victim as he lay on the ground, before making off in the direction of Cockpen Road.

The suspect is described as white, aged 25 to 30, 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair, medium build and broad shoulders. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

A police spokesman said: "This was an unprovoked attack that left the victim with a significant injury to his eye, and it's possible he may lose the sight in that eye as a result."
