Violent blaze rips through Edinburgh building

FIRE crews battled a blaze in a block of flats in Stockbridge overnight as it ripped through the building and into the roof space.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service were called to the fire on Dean Terrace at about 10pm and were still in attendance this morning.

A fire service spokeswoman said the fire broke out in the first floor of the four-story building, and spread to the roof space.

Crews used breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets in a bid to control the fire.

There were no casualties.
